I just went outside to get my manuals so that I can give you an accurate answer. By making the remark about a slipping PTO under load, you marked the year model range to post '64. My 65 and up operator's manual says that the S-O-S full mark is a pipe plug just beneath and slightly forward of the brake pedals. Says it is also the fill plug so good luck in getting fluid in there. Says check with tractor on level ground, engine off. Fluid is M2C41A which is one of the specs, most "tractor hydraulic/transmission" fluids meet today. Look on the back of the can for the specs which the fluid meets. The PTO slipping could be fluid, worn PTO pump or worn clutches. The Independent PTO is very sophistocated as compared to to others (transmission, live) having a separate hydraulic pump, clutch discs, and stopping brake. (Per my '65-'75 Ford service manual). My guess is that either the pump can't put out enough pressure to hold the clutch discs together under load, or they are worn and slip much like a transmission to engine clutch worn out. Low fluid is always a possibility. Says it uses the rear axle fluid. Your fill for the rear axle/hyd section is on top of the rear housing behind and to the right of the seat. The full mark is a pipe plug on the rt side of the housing just behind (inboard of) the brake lock (finger pull up hotus to lock brakes) located on the rt running board. Full is when fluid runs out. Fluid is M-2C53-A which should be another Ford spec on the container you used for the tranny. Hope your pto is only low fluid. Good luck, Mark
