1967 3000 Hydraulics problem

I have a UK-built 1967 3000. The hydraulics are not as they should be, and I'm seeking advice on what to check first. The symptoms are :-
1) with the 'Auxiliary Services Control Valve' (aka 'Spool-valve' ?) in the 'In' position, the 3-point linkage operates powerfully enough, but 'hunts' badly when raised and drops down quite quickly when the engine is stopped. 2) With the spool-valve in the 'Out' position the Front-end Loader operates perfectly, and stays up for ages after the engine is stopped. The 3-point linkage stills drops quicker that it should, but not as quickly as when the spool-valve is 'In'.
Which part of the system is the chief suspect for this behaviour ?
TIA

Sounds like your lift cyl is really worn.. or the cyl otherwise has a leak. The unloading valve system does tend to hunt or bob alot with leaks at the cyl.. it's just a real 'jerky' regeneration cycle. Your loader ram seals must be good. The fact the lift won't stay up points to the leak. I would have guessed check valve.. but i think that would have effected the loader in the half position... did you check half in... or only in / out.?. So.. look at the lift cyl and check valve.

SouNdguy - Thanks, and no, I haven't tried it in the halfway position, I'll try that next.

Bob,
Sorry I can't help you with your Hydraulics.
But I'm curious; what does your tractor's seriel number start with? B = UK C = US I know they made these tractors in the UK but I've never seen one.
Jerry

Ultradog - I don't have the seroal number for this tractor (the loader frame is in the way), but my other 3000 has a serial number of B813191, indicating it was made in Basildon in the UK.
