....did these models come with a remote hydraulic coupling on the back?...if not, what would the cost be to retro-fit with one if possible....and if so, would a 601 have enough hydraulic muscle to run a wood splitter?.....also did 601s have power steering?..... comments/opinions/experiances welcome....thank you

The remote valve and couplers was an option. (most don't have it)Used valves tend to run around $300, plus hoses and couplers, and new kits are about $550-$600. A 601 could run a splitter, but it would be s-l-l-o-o-o-w. YOu'd be better off with a pto -run pump if you want to power it from the tractor. Power steering was also optional, and both used components and new kits are available to add it to a tractor that doesn't have it.

Your hundred series pump is about 4gpm. I run a 1-arm loader on mine.. It's tolerable for a homeowner. I would think the logsplitter would be ok for splitting some firewood for regular use.. but for the cost of adding the remote.. you could buy pto pump and sump as well.. and then run fast..
