What's a Ford 961 Powermaster with standard 5-speed transmission, wide front end worth? Tires are in good to excellent condition; engine's been completely overhauled about 350 hours ago. Everthing's there. Never been restored or repainted. Also have Ford loader and mounted Ford three-bottom plow for it. Located in southern Minnesota.

I don"t know if this helps you, but I am doing a full restoration on my 960 narrow front end tractor that I mow with. It will be better than new when done. I"ve repaired all of the sheetmetal -welding etc, and will bodywork them perfect (I also restore show quality cars), I had the engine completely done with new parts (discovered that it didn"t really need it through, but I wanted the block cleaned properly for paint anyway). Starter and Gen rebuilt, new water pump, recast steering wheel, Hardware replated, new parts everywhere etc. By the time all is said and done I expect to have $5000-$6000 into it not including all my labor. It will be a better than new tractor. Compare that to my 755 John Deere riding mower tractor which cost $14500 new (I think). Granted the John Deere is more fuel effecient in my opinion. The ford can also be used for post hole digging though too. By the time I"m finished with my 960, I wouldn"t take $10K for it.

They are worth a lot more than they sell for. Good machines. I use a 900 to pull an 8 ft cutter and I don't think the governor ever kicks in. I really enjoy using it. Mine is narrow front though. later, Jerry

Not very much at all.

How far are you from me again?????

;)

Smith's Mill is selling one with a loader for $5000. Dealers often ask a lot more than one gets on the market.....

Arvid:

Value demends upon many things and varies by region. Having said that, I bought a 961 with wide front and Ford loader last fall for $2,800. My tractor is in excellent mechanical condition but needs paint and some other cosmetic work.

I bought mine for the good power adjust rims and the full set of small pie weights that were on it but once I had it home and thoroughly inspected it I discovered that it is too good to part out. Unfortunately, 9xx tractors are often worth more in parts than complete especially if the power steering works well and does not leak.

Around here your plow is probably worth about $300 - $350 if in good shape. If your loader is a trip bucket like mine, it is worth no more than $500 and probably less assuming that it is complete and works well.
