does anyone out there have any idea what a person might expect to pay for either a running or rebuildable core 201 diesel motor it would have to be complete as this is for a conversion from gas may also be intrested in a part trade for right motor this is a 1970 4000 3 cyl 201 gas motor it runs good but it leaks water out of the head gasket would like to change over unless it is overly expensive TIA mike

Be wary of 3 cyl 4000 engines losing water especially into the sump. They have the largest bore(4 3/8") for that block and therefore the thinnest cylinder wall which makes them prone to electrolosis or cavitation holing the lower part of the cylinder wall, dumpimg water into the sump, this is common. Another cause for water loss that isn't the head gasket can be the frost plugs under the rocker gear. This is the easiest to check so I always check it first.
Good luck

Good on you Mike, I didn't mean to doubt your estimation I just have a thing about the particular problem I mentioned as I have struck a few lately.
I found it in a relatively low hour 4610 once and tryed to get some back-up support from Ford but here they weren't interested.
Best of luck with your conversion.
