Started my 3000 this morning to move some brush into the burn pile and smelled somethin funny. Started looking and sparks were comming out of the generator.

Guess I'm going to have to make a choice as to putting another generator on it or switching over to an alternator. Money is real tight right now so it will have to wait a while. Thank goodness it's a diesel so I'm not out of commision.

Kinda would like to switch to an alternator but the tach drive is on the generator and would have to buy a special alternator... Durn....

you can get a brand new gen on ebay for 69 to 79 dollars... but it sounds like your brushes collapsed and need replacing...

or for about 210 you can get the special alternator with a tach drive on the rear.... good luck.. bill
