You said it had over head valves look in the center rear wheel the axle shaft will have a nut
about 2 inch this nut was only on Jubilee 1953& naa 1954 if it says juiblee in the center of the hood it would be a 53 if it does not say juiblee
it is a 54 that is the only diffance in 53 & 54

Your serial number says '53 Jubilee, but front emblems fall off all the time and get lost. Then sometimes they get replaced with a different emblem. Tlak has sent you to the right place to figure it all out.

I just happened to touch my 850 emblem one day and found that it wobbled. Looked closer and found one mounting screw gone and the other one very loose. From the driver seat you can't see that emblem when it falls off so you might never know it was gone unless it made a noise in your bush hog.

Bill,

IF IT IS A HUNDRED SERIES, OR AN '01 SERIES, THERE WILL BE ANOTHER THREE-DIGIT CODE STAMPED ON THE BELL HOUSING WHERE THE STARTER BOLTS IN, SUCH AS 640 OR MAYBE 661 (OR 29 OTHER EXAMPLES). IF IT SAYS NAA THERE THEN IT IS A JUBILEE.

THE <> INDICATES CAST IRON SLEEVES.

IF IT'S NOT A JUBILEE, THE WHEAT EMBLEM WOULD INDICATE IT IS EITHER A 600 OR 601 SERIES.
[ THE WHEAT THING IS TRICKY, THERE WAS WHEAT IN THE JUBE, THE 600, AND THE 601, ARRANGED IN VARIOUS PATTERNS. A '53 (GOLDEN JUB) WOULD HAVE THE YEARS 1903 1953 ON IT, A '54NAA JUST SAYS "FORD", A HUNDRED HAS "600" ON IT, A 601 AGAIN JUST SAYS "FORD".

HOPE THIS HELPS.

DonP are you sure about that <> being sleaved?
Don't remeber where I read it but I thought the diamond before or after or both indicated a sleaveless block.

Per the Vintage Ford Tractor Resource that tlak referred Bill too, yes. It says:
"· A "diamond" before and/or after the serial number indicates cast-iron cylinder sleeves, which are .098" larger in bore."

(i was moderately disappointed to find my 641 diamond-free, but don't need to rebuild at this time anyway, and am too busy being jealous of 2-stage clutches and power-steering to dwell too long in this particular pit of despond.)

Here is a link that might clear it up. In grouping the tractors there is no one year tractor. There was several years of 8Ns, then a couple years of NAAs with the 1953 being a jubilee, then several years of 600s. The wheat emblem in the front should say jubilee which your SN indicates that this is what your tractor is, but your tractor may be any year because you will find the SN in most year models so you need to read the page closely and look for other determining factors, like where you found the SN and does the hydraulic pump have fiber or metal lines. These tractors all pretty much look the same from 1953 to 1962+, so over the last 50 years if somebody messed with the cosmetics or changed emblems you could have any model.
