My ford has been sitting around for a couple of years without being turned over. After taking the head off I cant getit to crank I dont think anything is seized it is too clean inside. Any ideas on how I can get the engine to turn so I can put it back together. I have it all apart now so an overhaul is relatively easy. I have tried to put it in 3rd gear and rocking it back and forth and "yes" I have used a ton of penetrating oil in the cylinders. Any suggestions on how I can get things to turn....

Maybe the starter has jammed against the ring gear. Pull the starter out and check. You can also get a bar and pry against the ring gear teeth. This gives you a lot of leverage (it takes a lot to break a tooth off).

When you say sitting around do
you mean that you put it away,
or that you bought it after it was
sitting around?
Could be rod damage...

Have you tried putting the tractor in high gear, then grabbing the lugs of the rear tire and rocking the tractor hard forward and back. By keeping fluid on the pistons and doing this each day, many of us have had good success and avoided the damage that sometimes happens with some of the more severe methods (stripping the threads of the front crankshaft bolt, bending rods or wiping bearings by pulling the tractor and popping the clutch, etc.)

I have tried that with no luck. The tranny fluid idea I received sounds good cause I do believe something is rusted together. Thaks for the reply.

Believe it or not but that type of oil works on nuts and bolts but not on engines. Blow that stuff out and then fill the cylinders with tranny fluid. Let it sit a few days and then if its out side, or where its safe put about a tablespoon of gas in each cylinder and light it up, keep adding gas till almost all of it is burned out then try turning it over. What has happen is the rings have rusted to the cylinder walls.
