Don't understand the problem -- the overhaul seal kit is available from the dealer. If there are broken parts-not likely- you can get them off ebay from fordtracman and from Ralph Alexander in Ohio.

My dad has 3 801 SOS one he bought new in 1959 and the others be picked up over the years. He has had the transimssions worked on by a local guy who does Ford repairs part time. This guy was a mechanic for a local Ford tractor dealership and knows his way around the SOS transmissions. There is another guy I heard of in Eau Clair, IN. that is known for SOS repairs. Between transportaion, breaking the tractor in two and the labor invloved I wouldn'r doubt you'll have a grand or better into it. If the front input shaft assembly is shot, there goes another grand if you can find the parts. 15-20 years ago my dadd bought up most SOS transimission he could lay his hands on, just for parts. He had one of these rebuilt and it is residing in a 55ga sealed barrel in his ttol shed awaiting to be put into service.

You say you "have a mechanic who can do the job". Recommend you ask how many SOS he has rebuilt. Does he have a test stand? Make an excuse that you want to reference something and ask him to see the manuals. If he does not have real Ford SOS repair manuals, don't walk away, RUN. Tom

Bill are you sure you want to get into this. There are 4 different gasket and seal kits available. The 1-1959/12-1962 gasket and seal kit is some $325.00 thats for both single and two speed PTOs. There is a fellow thats in southern Ohio that rebuilds them and has a test stand to run them in on when completed. Unless you've done this before, its quite a job.....Kelly.
