What is the differences between the 4000 Industrial and a 4000 agricultural 4cly.? Are they well suited for loaders? Are they updated 801 series? Thanks!!!

The early 4000 series were basic 800's updated{blue}. The ind. versions used a full frame to support the front axle{2wd or 4wd}, the loader, and/or the backhoe and any other attachments that were available. Also they used a Hard Nose grille which hid and protected the aux. pump and other stuff in front of the radiator. If interested we can send pictures of our 4040 ind. 4wd with loader we have for sale. The 67 4000 tractor is a completely different tractor, only the name is the same.

I'm repairing a 67 4000 ag tractor. I don't feel the front end set up would be sturdy enough for a loader. This isn't to say they aren't our there. The axle support which bolts onto the tractor and hold the axle is cast. The extra pressure exerted by the loader would stress the area in the casting which is about 5/8"thick. Look at a manual or look at the tractor. I've just searched for this part and came upon many where loaders had cracked the casting. Poor design. The Industrial front end is made to take this. Again look at a manual and see.
