Hello, I have a Ford LGT 145 with a 42" mower deck. Not sure of the exact year. The deck is in pretty good condition, but the bearings in one of the blade spindle assemblies are chewed up. Does anyone have a deck they are parting out? If not, any advice on where to look for a replacement/rebuild? I went to a New Holland dealer, but the spindle assembly they pulled up had different hole diameters.....

I've got similar troubles. My deck has 2 cast aluminum spindle housings, and 1 steel one. They all appear to use standard 6205 brgs, very cheap and easy to get. The difference in the centre spindle is the shaft length, to carry a second pulley for main drive. My problem is the aluminum housings have started to crumble, so there's no possibility rebuilding them. Speaking of rebuilding, I regularly rebuild my idler pulleys, just grind off one side of the retaining flange, drive out old brg, and seat new brg, using 'Locktite' 609. Brgs are about $2.00, idlers $25.00 +. If you look at the big commercial machines, like the 'Ferris', everything is rebuildable.

Have you considered just replacing the bearings in the spindle?
I'm not familiar with your mower but many of the older spindle assemblies weren't hard to disassemble and replace bearings in.
A friend and I even replaced the bearings on one of the newer style spindles which aren't supposed to be rebuildable. They are though. Had to grind the weld away where the pulley is welded to the top of the shaft. Then we were able to get at the bearings. Afterwards we rewelded the pulley back on.
This was on an older Craftsman and Sears wanted about $75 for a new spindle assy. He had about $20
for the bearings plus the price of a six pack in it when he was done. It wasn't hard at all.

They need to look for another model mower, from 1974-1981 they used model 09JC9835 then from 1982-1983 they used another model, does your deck have a model sticker on yet? You can also tell what model you have by what size bolt holds the blade on to the spindle and if your front rollers are adjustable up and down or just pinned in one hole.

It's got the adjustable front rollers... Is that the earlier model (09JC9835), or the later one?

The blade hole diamter is 7/16".....

The adjustable front rollers were older yet, made from 1972-1973, the spindle bearings are the same as the 09JC9835 deck made from 1974-1981, the top pulley diameter and drive belt length were different for sure, what was different about the bearing they tried to sell you? Was it part# E1ADKN7600?

They pulled up diagram for 09jc9835: -Spindle on that deck had a rectangular base. Mine is round. -All three spindles on my deck look identical. But looking at their diagram, their center spindle was different from the side spindles.
-The Blade hole bolt on theirs was a different diameter than mine. ----- -----
I got my spindle fully disassembled. Looks like I need new bearings, and at least one of the washers is bent up. I'd like to replace some of the other internal pieces also, if I can get the right deck part numbers to identify them..... .

I think Scott has you on the right track. I don't know too much about those mower decks myself, but I do know just enough to know that there were several different decks, and different spindle sizes, etc. Just have them look a little harder for the specs you have, or go to another dealer. Short of that, you might be able to change just the bearings. HTH.
