172D intake manifold nut Maybe allen nut

There is one nut 2nd one on the intake manifold that cannot take a wrench. The hex is simply to large. I found something in a Mcmaster Carr catalog that's called a allen nut. The MC book wants $12 for five of them. You use a allen wrench to tighten only as far as the nut goes before the stud pushes the allen wrench out. Has anyone ever use this type of nut on the Ford tractors or is there another type of fastener for the intake manifold? bjr

bjr, your trying to make things hard. I just did one of these and you bolt up the intake manifold first and use a open end wrench on the nut your talking about. After you get the intake mounted less the rear intake bolt I think, it holds them both, you mount the exhaust part of the manifold....Kelly.
