What parts are you planning to use from your old motor?

I did the same thing that you are trying to do. I believe all of the externals will fit on your new engine. The engine that I replaced had one of the mounting lugs for the front axle assembly broke. I had the internals from my engine put in the new (used). The used block had new pistons and sleeves installed. My old engine did not have the balancer but had the provisions for a service balancer. I found a balancer and installed in the engine. If you find a block that needs a factory installed balancer and you need the balancer then let me know I have one. The crank is different, The dipstick is different and I think the oil pickup on the pump might be, but I do not know.

Service Balancer in reply to Tommy G in NC, 06-22-2006 08:06:04
I think I read in the book about there being a service balancer. This is one you put on if engine didn't come with one. I think there are other modification to go along with that to the bering caps or bolts, don't remember now. I don't know if they are available or not, though. bjr

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the only thing different is the crank. The balancer runs off a ring gear that is part of the crank. All the other stuff "should" bolt right up.
