After about one hour of mowing, my 800 starts to miss when under load. The gasoline in the fuel bowl shows lots of bubbles and the gasoline in the tank builds up a lot of pressure to the point if you open the gas cap the fuel will boil out.

I've put new plugs, points, condenser, wires, muffler, muffler pipe, radiator.

When it cools down, it starts and runs great up til it gets hot again. The radiator and motor don't seem to be hot.

talk about a great help line, my 860 has a simmilar problem, while mowing (hot weather for an hour) it acts like it runs out of power then gas, all meters read fine before shutting down, let it set five minutes it runs great. I think my fuel line runs right through the manifold and that gets hot and creates a vacuum in the line, I am going to try some sort of wrap to hold off the heat.

I had same problem on my 861. I wrapped the fuel line with aluminum foil and put a sheet of aluminum covered styrafoam insulation between valve cover and gas tank - problem gone. - Good luck.

Bob check summit out they heave heat reflective raping for fuel lines and sheets of this stuff it very expensive but I think it will work for you part# DEI-010401 36 x 40 mat $54.50 or Thermo Tec makes fuel line sleeve and mating to that mite work all sow at www.summitracing.com sight you mite wont to do a search for Design Engineering Inc or Thermo Tec

P.S I haven’t used this stuff yet but will soon and this is a pretty common problem you are having I think good luck Rod

we had same problem on a 860. used aluminum foil to wrap the fuel line. you want to put it on all wrinkled up so it acts like a heat sink. price is right to give it a try.

I had the same problem and i do comercial mowing, I found out it was the heat from the muffler that was boiling my gas, and i have the heat sheild in place. I took the tractor to a place that custome builds exhaust systems and had a pipe built to go vertical and put the muffler outside of the hood. This eliminated the gas boiling problem entirely. I have seen some tractors that run straight pipe for the horizontal exhaust, i dunno if that helped them or not, just an observation. Hope this helps.

That is what we had to do on our 960, get the muffler out of there, place it out & vertically. Actually used to have 2 960's, did this to both, as well as mounting the coil on a 2x2 block of wood to get it out & away from the hot block, that helped too for electrical problems.

Bob, Right above the muffler/manifold there is supposed to be a sheet of metal that acts as a shield to keep the tank from getting too hot. You have to almost look under the tank to see it. If that is missing, the tank could be heating up from the exhaust heat.

My 641 was fitted with a sleeve around the gas line where it went between/behind the exhaust manifold, possibly to keep it from heating that tube too much?
-It is some kind of heavy cloth.

I did have a problem with the vent in the cap being clogged, but that did not cause the fuel to boil out of the gas tank, or show bubbles in the sediment bowl.
Try to make sure your line isn't touching the manifold, at least.

My gas cap has a small hole to relieve the vacuum or pressure.

HI Bob
I had the same problem. I drilled a very small hole thru the center of the gas cap. This solved the problem. Then I bought a new gas cap and thru the old one away.
Good Luck ///CRS///
