LGT-145 Transmission fill level

Hello, I changed the oil in the hydrostatic transmission of my Ford LGT-145. They told me at the New Holland dealer that it takes 6 quarts. There is a drain plug on the very bottom of the transmission, a second one a little past halfway up, and further up towards the top there is some kind of vent cap, that can be screwed off. It only took about 4 quarts of oil before I got up to the middle cap. I'm guessing that this is the fill line, but since they told me 6 quarts, I wanted to make sure I wasn't under-filling it. I could add more oil through the top hole.... Anyone been through this before?

Ive got a lgt145 also and fill mine to the second plug as you did,, have been running at this level for the last 3 seasons with no problems. There is a Yahoo group thats dedicated to Ford garden tractors,, google them up, good info and folks there HTH
