Hydraulic linkage causing lack of position control

My 65 3000 gas has for the past 3 years had hyrdraulic problems in that the lift will go all the up or all the way down but has very little or no position control between up or down. Draft control lever is in up position. It will hold up a load for 2 hours but often you can give it a shove downward with your hand and the lift will drop.

Removed the lift cover and found only slight wear of the cam follower pin. However the lift control lever that the pin goes into has been broken and brazed back together which causes the spring loaded pin that protrudes to the actuating lever to rest 3/8" high almost at the very top of flat machined section of the actuating lever and not as low and straight as it should.

Three questions - 1. Is the control lever not seating correctly to the actuating lever so critical as to cause a lack of position control? 2. Does anyone know the availibility or cost of this part? 3. To adjust control linkage I insert a depth gauge "into" the control valve bushing when the quandrant lever is 1/2" from bottom? I come up with .40 instead of .20 so I want to be sure I am to measuring correctly. Thanks for any help.

I can't tell you the particulars of adjusting that lift cover. However, I can tell you that every tolerance and every setting is critical to it's proper operation. If something isn't sitting correctly, then it needs fixing, UNLESS you can see an obvious route for adjustment to compensate.
As far as setting goes, follow the procedure (sequence) in the manual to the letter. IF you don't have the special tools, then the manual generally lists the measurements at the critical points. You just need to figure out how to take the measurements..... I don't have the special tools, but I've set 10 series lift covers successfully.
I believe the part you mentioned should be readily available through your local NewHolland AG dealer. HTH.
