Just bought a 3400 gas, will run but doesn"t move, took top trans cover off, nothing is turning, PTO stops and goes. Wheel locks up when I put the "tow" lever in gear, located under the seat, right side. Input shaft splines? Powershift locked up? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

tow lever in gear? in reply to Lyle504, 06-27-2006 10:19:39
I've a old 4 cylinder '64 4000 that when I bought it, it had a striped hub on the torque clutch plate. The rivets had shear off. Just be aware if that's your problem that there is differnt splines on the input shaft. I got the wrong one the first time. The lever or release shaft is what I think your talking about. It's supposed to release the wheels for towing the tractor back to the shop. Take the lock keeper plate off and turn the shaft I think like a half turn or until the wheels move free. bjr
