The information I have on that tractor is scarce, but what it does say is that the 8401 was built for roughly 5 years, with a total of 740 units being built.
The tractor was based on a 7700, using the 7700's back half, mated to a de-rated TW-10 engine. It also used a TW-10 front axle, and a County 1184 ring and pinion in the rear axle. The cab was designed by Ford's Austrialian Truck division. Early models did not have a 3-point hitch, although the later red stripe models did have the 3-point as an option. Soooo... That's about all I can tell you regarding the 8401, and that's just straight from a book. I've never seen one other than the pictures. HTH.
