Hello,

I am trying to find 5 pie weights to complete a set I have monunted on my 961, and can"t seem to find any. It has the power adjust rims on it so it requires the shorter stout weights. The aftermarket ones will not work.

If anyone know where I can get a few at please let me know.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I think I have 2 of the weights that you are looking for. I"m in the Twin Cities, Minn.
I haven"t looked at them for a while but from memory they look like yours. They are up at my place in the country and I wont be up there till this weekend but if you are interested I could find my camera and send you a couple of photos.

Dean where are you located. If it was feasable I"d be delighted to trade weights with you. I have a complete 30lb set but want more weight on my 3000.
Jerry

Dennis:

Only the smaller, 30 lb./segment, pie weights are recommended by Ford for any tractor smaller than the 8xx series. These are the same weights that work on any vintage Ford tractor with power adjust rims. The larger weights will interfere with the rails on the power adjust rims.

Though the large weights will bolt on to your 640 so long as it does not have power adjust rims, and many people have used them on tractors smaller than 8xx series, Ford considers this too much weight for the 6xx series tractors.

Original front weights bolt on to the inside of the front wheels. Again, two sizes were made. I'm not certain of the weights but I expect that the heavy front weights on my 860 weigh about 100 lbs./side.

I know of no reproduction source for vintage Ford front weights, and these have become quite expensive.

Where are you lacated at. shipping is the main factor in pie weights. Thats how I ended up with a partial set. Thats all I could find close to me.
I am going to put fluid in this week also, would still like to have a complet balanced set of pie weights on the tractor.

Hi, Jeremy:

I'm in SE Indiana near Cincinnati, OH.

I bought this set because the price was right. I bought the 961 because it had a complete set of small pie weights on it that I wanted for my 64, 4 cylinder 4000 with power adjust rims.

I thought that I might convert the 961 over to 6-loop rims and use the large weights on it but after inspecting the power adjust rims on it, finding that they were fine, I just sandblasted, primed, and painted them and put them back on. My 55 860 already has a complete set of large pie weights on it so I really do not need the extra large set.

I could, however use another set of the small ones for the 961 because it has a loader on it and needs more weight.

Dean
