i know very little about ford tractors. i have ac's. i know soneone who is selling a ford tractor. he tells me it is a 1969 ford powermaster jubile. the tractor is about the size of my allis WD. good tires. engine runs well. tin is rusted but in good shape. not many leaks. has a strange trans. you have 1 and 2 and have to push down on the shift leaver to get to 3,4,R. i don;t have any serial numbers or know where to find them. can someone tell me anything about this tractor, possible valve, is it rare, hard to find parts.

That tranny is and that GA$$ Re: what's it worth in reply to bill in md, 08-07-2006 13:05:19
That tranny is is a real pain in the *** I had an 850 with it. Really is hard to get the rite gears all the time, and if you need reverse you only have one speed and that usualy to fast. Check for live PTO also, to tell you the truth I no longer buy/use gassers the fuel is just to much. I had a field that I had to brush hog of every summer it cost 25 Gallon gass to do it with the 850 172 cu in gasser. When I got my fordson dexta 3 cyl diesel it took the same time but 11 gal of farm diesel! So if you are going to use this tractor much think about the fuel costs, I would look for a diesel tractor such as the MF 35 3 cyl perkins or a ford diesel.

awhtx and old are right. By the way, check the transmission. It is a 5 speed if it moves up and down (or a really messed up 4 speed - LOL). Pushing down gives you 4th and 5th; in the middle gives you 1st and 2nd; and pulling up gives you 3rd and reverse.

Yes, that tractor is very rare. In 1969 Ford was building the Thousand series tractors (2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, etc.) "Powermaster" refers to the 801 series tractors that were built from 1958-1962. "Jubilee" is the 1953 Ford NAA tractor, so named because 1953 was the 50th anniversary of FoMoCo. The shifter you describe is for the 5 speed transmission that was no longer available in 1969.
My guess is that you are looking at a 1959 Ford 851 or 861. The 851 is a 5 speed trans with transmission driven PTO. 861 is a 5 speed with a dual clutch and live PTO. In decent working condition they are worth $2500 and up. The 861 is worth more than the 851. There were many thousands of these tractors built and parts are easy to find for them.

Well first off there was not power master made in 1969 or a Jubille either. The jubilee was made for only one year and that was 1953. As far as power master there was one but it was also made in the 50s That tranny is the 5 speed use in the 600,700,800 series and the 601/801 series tractors. You can find then numbers you need to find out for sure what he has they are on a flat spot behind the starter /under the battery box. The numbers will have the model number and under the model number will be the serial number
