HELP !!!!!
I have a 58 861 Diesel with Power Steering. It never worked form day 1.
Soon as I got the tractor I noticed that the Power Steering Belt was rubbing on the Lower Radiator Hose, so I cut the belt and figured I would get to it later. After cutting the belt I looked at the Lower Radiator Hose and saw that it was worn almost all the way thru, so I replaced it.
I figured when I take it apart I will figure it out.
Well, I rebuilt the pump bought a new belt and cleaned up the belt tension turnbuckel and got that screwed all the way in.
When I mount the pump on the tractor and attach the belt I see that there is no possible way that I can prevent the PS belt from rubbing on the LR Hose.
I cannot tension the belt at all, casue even with NO tension on the belt it is rubbing against the LR Hose.
I looked in all the Manuals and none of them say anything about it, so I fured a got a wrong part in there somewhere but I have no idea which one it is. They all seem to be the right parts. Any help/opinions/suggestions greatly appreciated...
Thanks Alan

Alan, Please post the part number of the hose you get from your dealer. If it solves your problem I would try one also. I have the same problem on my 671 gas.

Called the dealer and sure enough with a little prompting he found the one I needed. Got 1 coming in....

Thanks Alan

John has it right Alan, and I believe you want to ask for an industrial hose to get the right one or to get the parts guy thinking.

Alan,

There are two different part numbers for the radiator hose. One is generic, and I bet that is what you have. The other is specifically for tractors with PS. It has an extra bend or twist that makes it clear the belt. Most people don't know that there are 2. That included me, when I got a new hose and the guy at the FNH dealership that looked the part up.

Alan, My 861 has pwr steering. There is a metal band around the hose in the area where the belt would rub. Appears to be a dealer part... maybe. It is about an 1 1/2" wide and fits the hose really tight. I bet a piece of exhaust pipe would work, mine isn't that heavy though. Even conduit. What ever you use make sure it fits tight so it won't slide down.

Mine did the same until I loosened the Radiator hose and pulled it back until the belt cleared. Mine was shoved too far on to the radiator side.

Let us know if this works for you.

I'm assuming you have a correct lower hose with a curve in it and the correct radiator.
