I dont have a Maint. manual so does anyone know
if the 4500 has a seperate filter for power steering or a adjustment for pressure? I know it has a pump on the motor block but I dont see any adjustments.

Chuck, Yes to both questions.
Early 4500's had a separate powersteering oil reservoir up under the hood. There's supposed to be a small reutrn oil filter inside the reservoir. Later 4500's have a reservoir can covering the power steering pump - it also has a small return oil filter inside the reservoir can.

The earlier type power steering pump has a relief valve under an acorn cap at 11:00 o-clock on the back of the pump, the relief valve is shim adjustable. The shims are very samll discs about one quarter inch diameter.

The later pump has what's supposed to be a tamperproof cartirdge inside the reservoir can, again with a shim adjustable relief valve spring.

Ten to one that the weak power steering is simply due to a worn out pump.
