My 4000, 3 cyl. diesel has a few wires hanging under the dash, along the steering column that is not connected to anything. Also there are a few components that I don't know what they do.
1. Mounted under the dash on the left side is something made by (HELLA). There are two numbers on it TBB 38 and 4DN003438-18 with six blades, for wire connections, on the bottom. What is it and what does it do?
2. On the right of the dash is a key switch that looks like the starter switch but the back is different. It’s made by (BOSH) with two screws and five blades for wire connections on back. My key fits in but won't turn it. What is it and what does it do?
3. On the top right of the dash there is a small light (no cover). The back is about 1-1/2" dia. with eight blades for wire connections. Again, what is it? 4. On the top left there is an aluminum housing with three red light covers. There is nothing inside it or connected to it. What was this cover for?

Thanks tsix, your drawing helped. It is my belief that I have a mid 60"s 4000, 3 cyl. diesel. The battery acid has removed the numbers behind the starter.

I made a hand drawn diagram before removing any of the components but left it out and it got rained on and now I"m screwed, unless someone has more information.

Ok I figured out that the housing with the three red light covers is probably something to do with turn signals. Did the light switch require a key to operate?
Come on guys what is the other stuff?
