Hello all... looking for advice or suggestions... My father in law bought a ford 6000... ran and worked great for a year and now the accumilator tank i believe is giving him problems... its whatever allowed the tractor to raise and lower the 3pt. hitch while it was not running and the tank looses pressure now... What he is wanting to do is by-pass the resivor tank and what we are wanting to know is has anyone done this? can it be done? if so how? any suggestions?? i do know that he is wanting to do away with is as refilling it so often would be a nusiance as he only uses it durring hay time... any suggestions or detailed descriptions of how it can be or you have done it will be appreciated.. thanks in advance...

That is a nitrogen accumulator. It is pressurized on one side with nitrogen at about 2000 psi.

If the nitrogen has leaked out I can see no reason to bypass it as long as it does not leak oil. The lift will continue to work just won't have that extra fast pickup that it did with the accumulator. I am sure it could be bypassed but don't understand why you would want to. Once it is full of oil it should not need to have anymore added.
