What do you folks use on your old Ford tractors and implements?I've usually used the $3 a tube stuff, but recently bought some of the $1.29 offering from TSC.The TSC is black, the high dollar is red or some other color. Was I wasting money buying the $3,or harming my tractor being cheap?I grease it about everytime it's out of the shed.My first alert that the cheap stuff might not be doing the job was the ORC letting the bush hog give me an unexpected push.Boley

I think it is more important to grease often than to buy some high dollar goo to squirt in there. I buy decent quality grease and hit the zerks every 8-16 hours of operation. Of course, I do have 5 different grease guns some of which do have the high dollar goo. I use that for high friction points on the backhoe and loader.

I've used 5 buck a tube grease, and I've used 2 buck a tube grease. I've had more trouble with the 5 buck variety. I do use a good EP2 grease, which is about 2 bucks. If the temperatures drop it might not hurt to use an EP1 or something like that as it's lighter. The EP2 I'm using now is too heavy for winter use, and I've actually got to heat the stuff to pump it on a cold day. I wouldn't suggest using the cheap crap type stuff that melts on contact. There are good value products out there that don't cost a bunch. Again, the stuff I have is an Ultramar product. Ultraplex EP2 is the product name. Right around 2 bucks a tube.... Shop around. You'll probably not find much good on the shelf at the local parts barn. HTH.

I use a good quality grease with 500 degree drip point. If the dang stuff melts (drips) at the first sign of heat it ain't doing you any good. I believe in quality lubricants. Of course I sell them. If you have an Archer dealer close, ask him about Lubrishield. It's as good as they come and there are 16 ozs in the tube versus the usual 14 (the tube is the same size, just filled fuller). Right now it is retailing for $2.30 per tube.

usually tells you what it's for... usually try to use the heavy duty grease, as the light duty grease seems to be very thin on hot days

I buy the cheap stuff and have for years/decades. I also like to make sure I grease evert thing up at least four times a year if not more depending on how much I use them. So far the cheap stuff has worked well and I haven't seen any problems with useing it. Remember way back when most tractors where made grease was grease but now days they add so much stuff to it that its not any where near what it was back 50 years ago
