You suggested welding hub to plate. I have a plate and hub I took out of my early 4000D that's the same need of repair and I thought of just welding hub to plate. Has anyone tried this and what were the results? Should I use 6011 or 7018 or have it tig or mig welded? The rivet holes on the plate are elongated pretty bad and would take a lot of welding to be able to redrill the holes for rivets. I like the idea of welding the hub to the plate, almost to easy. I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to making a decision like that. bjr

You'd hjave to get it centered just right. I'd find a new or used replacement.

I would call an expert on SOS transmissions before making any modification like that.

Normally I wouldn't put out phone #'s, but at the Ill Ford show this summer they were handing out business cards;

Carl Davis in Mich 1-800-761-4222

Ralph Alexander Ohio 1-513-724-3186
Note: Mr. Alexander stated that he was backing out of the SOS business, but would be able to answer questions on the phone or maybe sell some parts.

Both of these gentlemen were extremely knowledgeable on these transmissions and it was a great experience watching them pull one apart at the show. jb
