I"ve been looking for a tractor, still no luck. I know this is probably too new, but I can"t find much beyond basic information about it. Are they any good? I"m looking at a two wheel drive with a little over 4000 hours. He thinks it"s a 94 but not sure. I don"t know much about the transmission yet, I think the right lever looked like it had two push buttons on it, between the two levers were 8 numbers. If someone could tell me how to use it before I drive that would be great. I"d like something reliable, easy to maintain. Thanks for the info.

Given it's an 8240, it's probably got the 16x16 electroshift transmission. This is the same idea as a Deere Power Quad. It's a full powershift. I have no direct experience with them, and haven't even looked at one in a while. From what I remember, the left lever is a F/N/R shuttle lever. I think the middle lever is a high/low range lever, and I believe the last lever is a 4 speed inline shifter. The buttons are an up/down shift. So, there should be 4 shifts on the lever, and a high/low split for a total of 8 on that lever. Shift the range lever to double the total to 16. That's what my poor memory tells me anyway. There's others with more experience on that than me.
Generally I think it's a fairly good reliable gearbox. Likey anything else, it's given to poor connections and other electrical problems from time to time. Not something that I'd particulairly worry about if you're happy with how it drives and shifts. Again, it's full powershift. The clutch pedal is only an ornament with a rheostat attached to it... HTH.
