3pt. hiccup on 7710

I've got a 7710 Ford (older style) with a cab. Everytime I raise the 3 point up it continually "hiccups" up and down a little bit. It does this with or without a load on the point. I bought the tractor a little while back and it has always done this.
What should I look for to try and correct this problem?

Check the selector valve handle to make sure it is not partially in the remote position.

That could be a lift cylinder o-ring leaking, or it could be a control valve issue, among other things. I'd suggest that if it wasn't too serious then I would leave it alone. You might do a lot of work and get no further ahead. I have an '85 7710 and it tends to "correct" like that on a regular basis. Granted this one does have a gash in the lift cylinder....

If you do decide to lift the top off, then be sure to remove the priority valve pack first. Then bolt a piece of flat bar or channel to the cover using the 2 bolt holes over top of the rock shaft. I use 1x3 channel, about 3 feet long. I clamp that to the forks on my skid steer. Once you lift it up an inch or so, remove the load monitor link at the right rear of the cover. Beyond that it's just slow careful lifting. You don't want to hit any lines or other internal parts when you're lifting with a loader. You would also do well to get a Ford service manual if you haven't done so already. HTH.

I have a 4610 and it will do that with a heavy implement on the 3 pt and in draft control mode.

Presume you"re in position control & not draft - my MF 135 will do that in draft - don"t know if my Ford would - haven"t tried it.

first thing is to replace the oring on the main piston.. question is can you pull the lift cover with the cab... I have bolted a 2 &3/8 pipe to the lift cover.. and used a front end loader to then pull the lift cover up and then back.. you can use an engine lift dolly as well.. but be sure to remove the oil feed tube on the side per the manual or you will break it... per the manual.. i have forgotten and broke a couple...
usually an oring on the main lift piston will fix it.. ocasionally with can be some other valve, ie the unload valve or something is wrong, but not usually.. make sure the piston and cyl are not scarred up... hth... bill

Feed tubes were only used on the hundred series, not the 10 series.
