Is this tractor worth more than $4600? I see that the current high bidder has (0) feedback. Maybe the seller is bidding his auction up.

Now at near $4800 reserve still not met.
When I buy a tractor it comes home "for sale" I allways sell em (eventually) an I allways make money, at least on the Fords I do. I am a very poor salesman, but I must be a pretty good buyer. All I can say on this one is NOT 4800 of MY dollars.

In my mind, no, that tractor isn't worth the current bid.... to me. Mabey to somebody else it is, and no doubt is to the seller as he's probably got a good deal more than that invested into it. I guess if somebody wanted one semi-restored they would have to ask if they could do the amount of work described, and put that set of tires on it for the present bid. To me the tractor doesn't look to bad. There's a few little things like has been mentioned that probably aren't big factors, and the wiring wasn't really tidied up for the alternator.... but that's just picky stuff.

In my mind when you can buy a 3930 for twice the money with a loader, power steering and a fully syncronised shuttle tranny, I'd have to wonder why I'd pay this much for an 861. Anyone who has ever used both tractors would have a hard time saying that the 3930 wasn't easily twice the tractor at the same HP. That's just how I look at it with regard to a working tractor.... but if you want an antique to play around with, ask what it would cost to put an 861 diesel in the shape this one's in. You might find this one is a deal.

Rod

Like the others I would want to look it over before spending that kind of money.

I would hope a 861D in good shape is worth 5 to 6000.

RON..... ...
That hole you see is the split in the power adjust centers. It is suppose to be like that.

no way! in reply to awhtx, 10-13-2006 18:40:08
Without the Power Steering unit and the fact that the lower right lift arm has been welded makes me at least cautious. Is that a hole in the right rear wheel by the wheel bolt or a dark shadow? The stuff that has been halfa$$ed repaired makes me wonder about what else might not be acceptable.

not me

If you look long enough and are paintent you will find what you want for less. It lookes good, but the mechanics may have issues. I have friends and relatives that have bought cars and tractors on e-bay. They alway were in worse shape than the pictures and descriptions show. If you fix it up yourself you know what you have when it is put back together. Sometimes people dump stuff on ebay. Be careful.

Yes, it probably is, with the work thats been done to it.However, a friend of mine that has a ford dealership told me that some of the older deisel parts are getting hard to come by. for example I had a chance to buy an 850 diesel in california and the guy would deliver with in a 100 miles of my house for a $1000 and 50 cents a mile. the tractor needed a injector pump. and my friend talked me out of it. It should have parted out for that money. another example I bought an 860 gas that looks as good as the diesel in your picture with 5 foot mower and blade and loader for $3850. It comes down to what you need and what your willing to spend. John
