I have a 4000 (1970, 3 cylinder) with a single spool valve for remote with quick connect. I need to replace it because it doesn't float. I would like to buy a 2 spool control valve. Where can I finds this? Are new ones available? Are salvage yards my only hope? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

the addition of a facory k3 valve will not give a satifactory float. a hyd plate is manufactured by ford to be inserted between the single valve and top cover allowing the single spool valve to be retained and adding a common front end loader valve to be used attaching to the added plate i don't have part number handy. but ask your dealer he should have the part and proper instruction

To actually answer your question, two spool valves are available new and used, OEM and aftermarket. RTP, Tisco, vendors at this website, New Holland and others offer what you need. You can also use a generic valve with plumbing to save some bucks. Figure $5-600 for an OEM-style new 2 spool valve.

I think the chain link is a good idea. My neighbor had to do the same thing. The blade can be slow to drop in float mode and you don't get all the snow down in the holes. With the chain you can retract the cylinder all the way and the blade floats on the cutting edge really well.

Hey Bill!

Do you want the setup to float your front blade for snow plowing? If so, you might consider rigging up a piece of chain between your blade and the lift cylinder until you get a double spool setup.

I used a Cub for a couple years and did just that, the stock blade was rigidly mounted and didn't float, so I put about a 4" chain on the lift and floated the blade... worked like a charm. Then, in summer, went back to the rigid mount for road maintenance.

Best,
Cave

I understand that they are available but are expensive. My dealer sometimes gets them in on used machines. He is watching for one for me now. It might be taht the source for new valves is the "Tisco" catalog that dealers can order from.

Good luck.
