how do i teel the difference between a ford 800 series and a 801 series. and where are the serial numbers located on them?

Well, if they still have original sheetmetal and paint colors, an 801 will look like this:

The model and serial numbers are stamped on the top of the transmission housing at the left front corner.You can also go to antiquetractors.com and punch on ford and then serial number to verify.

What OLD said.. and... x00 series had ampmeter gauge.. x01 series had a charge lamp..

They are almost the same tractor. ID/Model number is just behing the starter under the battery box, on a flat spot on the bell houseing
