Gas 3600 Runs Rough after 20 minutes

I have another new problem with my Gas 3600. After running under load (bush hogging) for about 20-30 minutes it starts running very rough and sputtering etc. When I put it in neutral and throttle all the way back it smooths out.

Yesterday it was doing it to the point I could not finish mowing and limped back to the shed. I examined the carburetor while I idled at about mid throttle. The throttle lever attached to the carburetor would start moving on its own up and back down when it started running rough.

I have searched and read similar posts, but I was wondering if there is any other advice out there. Thanks.

Brian

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I'll check those filters. Take care.

Brian

On my 231 (2600) there is a screen that is integral to the inlet fitting on the carb, plus my fuel pump has a screen it.

Mine doesnt have the sediment bowl Ultra mentions, but so far you have a list of five potential places for junk to collect.

When I tore mine down the problem was in the fuel pump screen, so much junk I was suprised it actually ran.

Good luck,
Rick

Sounds like a fuel issue to me.
There are 3 filters on these gassers.
One is in the tank and is part of the fuel shut off valve.
Secone is a sediment bowl type filter by the carb.
Thirs is in the fuel inlet into the float bowl.
Check them all for crud.
Your hand throttle does not directly link to the carb. Hand lever sets the govenor which in turn sets the carb.
Sounds like the govenor was opening the throttle but the engine wsn't getting the necessary fuel.
