How long should it take to adjust the SOS transmission. Everything seems to work fine but after reading more on it I really want to make sure we are all tuned up. It does not get many hours per year (20) but we have owned it for 9 years and haven't touched it. I plan on getting the FO20 manual tonight. Will that give me enough information for the adjustments. Thanks.

I recently purchased 4500 w/sos at auction. worked fine except pto did not run. I loosened the top plate to check cable, but couldn't raise it due to cable tubes. I was short on time so just screwed plate bolts back down. now sos will not engage. having never owned a sos I know nothing about it. are there connnectors on cable ends that can come loose? what is best way to check and reconnect? any advice on sos would be appreciated.

I am not sure Mike. I have never pulled the cover on this one and hope I don't have to. Even with what little I have read on this beast, you MUST buy a book on it. The FO31 manual I got from Farm and Fleet does a reasonable job on the SOS. At least it shows you what is inside and tells you how to adjust it. For $25 you should get one. (Check the number of the manual for what you have). I replace the fluid in mine and will adjust it up when I get back home. Good luck Mike.

Should only take you about 30 minutes. Follow the manual, expecially the part about disengaging the trans. form the rearend. Other than that it's simple to do.
