Ok here goes....some of you read my posts about looking for a tractor. I have been looking and comparing 2000 and 3000 tractors...with not a lot of success. So, I guess I decided to kind of combine the two. I bought a 5000 Thursday. Hey, this is a lot of tractor! I just have to get it home tomorrow or Monday and get started. 5000 owners out there get ready for questions!

I agree with Awhtx.. i considert he 5000 one of fords best engineering accomplishments that actually made it to production.

If she runs ok.. you will love her.

Gas or diesel? year? row crop or ag chassie? pow steering? etc, etc, etc...

Hey Sound,

It's a 4 cylinder diesel with powersteering. I believe it to be a 1968 model. Today is my first opportunity to get it home. I will probably have to have the p/s pump rebuilt and the center pin and bushing replaced, but other than that, she's ready to roll. Or, I can hit the gym for 6 weeks or so and be fit to fight her ! I am planning on getting the serial number off of it today and find out for sure when she was built. I will get picture as soon as I can.....I will probably get one with the cell phone when I get there.

All I can add is that I just too ended my search and found a 3000 I just bought today! The guy I bot it from had a 5000 & 7000 sitting next to it and said that the 5000 was definately the best tractor on the farm. Easy on gas, powerful, and very reliable. Good luck and I too look forward to learning more about the thousand series Fords.

Congratulations on your 5000. Many will say that is one of the best (if not THE best) tractor Ford ever made.
