i have a 67 model 5000, runs good and does not appear to have any blow by, nor use any oil. it has a knock in it when it is under a strain. i notice it most when it is at lower rpms going up a hill. higher rpm and setting still i cannot get it to do it at all. if i get it to do it in motion i can increase the rpm 1400 or above and it won't do it anymore.

That's just the engine grunting because your putting a big load on it at low rpm's, My 68 3400 does the same thing it's like the knock you get in a car when going up or down hill and not having the correct octane gas. Not good for the rings and crank bearings, throttle it up some or pick another gear when it's safe to do so. don't shift on a hill unless you know your brakes will hold the tractor and the load you may be pulling.
Things can get scarry real quick.

now that you mentioned octane knock, that is a good way to describe it. i added some lucus fuel treatment to a fresh tank, but haven't had it out yet. also thought about a lead treatment knowing when she was built gas was leaded.
