ya know..this could be George W. asking the questions here...as I do have a farm in TX..850 series..was there two types of 172 engines....like industrial etc...??? Mine was painted blue/red/just discovered yellow?

The only additional thing is there was a true industrial version and it had an actual automotive type fuel pump on the side of the block.

Initially there was only one type of 172 engine and it was gasoline powered. Then starting in 1959 you could get a 172 gas or 172 diesel engine.
