Just removed the transmission from my 861 for reapir. Saw that there were 2 splines on the transmission input shaft (shaft that goes into the clutch) ....
My first thought was, how am I ever going to line them up again !!!!
Is there a trick or tip in lining the splines up again to reinstall the transmission into the engine....
Or are they kinda self aligning ????
Any opinions suggestions greatly appreciated....
Thanks....Alan

If you buy a rebuilt clutch kit the two clutches will be lined up. when you slid the tractor back together you just need to turn the engine over by hand.

If you are very lucky it will slid together with no problem ( I'm never lucky). Most of the time you will need to align your trans. ease it together and wiggle your engine and rock back and forth slightly, don't force it. It is also helpful as it comes together and hung up on the splines to turn engine over slightly ( by hand )and also turn pto shaft if needed to align. Be patient and don't force to much and you will be ok. Good luck.

Not really , just don"t force it. If it seems not to be lining up then you can put the pto in gear and rotate the shaft and the same with the engine with the trans in gear.
