Alright you ford guys, I need some of your expert advise. I think I want to tinker around with building up a little ford 901. Is there any bigger ci engine that will bolt in to start from & or are there any heads off of the 4000's or something any better for compression and air flow than what comes on the 900 series. Any information would be great.

I've been pulling with Ford RC's for four years with some pretty good success, along with a few other guys and a gal or two. what do you plan to do with this "built up" 901?

First question is: Why do you want to soup up your 901? The 172 already has gobs of power, more than enough for the 901's weight. If you're planning on using this as a working tractor, I'd leave well enough alone.

There have been a few uncharitable comments about the strength of the 600/800 series drivetrain in this forum, but they seem to be reliable enough if you leave everything stock. Before you go tinkering with your 901, I'd go price a new clutch, because that's likely to be the first thing to go.

Well, I saw an 8n at a show this summer that had an 8 cylinder engine out of (I think it was ) a Lincoln.
- I know that doesn't answer your question, but it ran good, and shows that a little determination and an adapter kit or two can yield some impressive results!

(Keep waiting, you may get serious responses, too.)
