I've been reading everything I could find about tractors, namely fords on this forum.Spent a good amount of money on a 53 Jubilee.I'm not bothered by the money. What I'd like to be able to do is in a pinch..go to autozone and get a distributor cap or set of points quickly.

Case in point I needed a starter relay I go to carquest in town tell the owner I need A relay for a tractor!!So out comes a 4 poled relay it looks right,I tell him about grounding the circuit to start the tractor because of the neutral safety devise in use.Not a problem this is it.Well it was an auto part..you know the rest. Now I pull out the wiring diagram.

Anyway you get the picture.Nearest FNH Dealer is 60 Miles round trip.I did get one at the local John Deere that worked.
Thanks for any kind of help.
Billy.

Thanks for the quick replys.I guess I need to keep some ignition parts here at the house.
What I was looking for was maybe a ford car or truck that used the same motor as these 4 cylinder tractors. As far as money goes, not much has been spent on the tractor I bought last year by the previous owners.Everything I tear into needs something more bought. As far as good parts people, the AutoZone guy here in Altus, goes to Johns auto parts to get his "tractor" stuff. We do have an Atwoods country store. They carry very generic stuff.
I really just wanted to hear that a 1974 pinto distributor cap and points would fit my tractor..etc.
Thanks,to all.
Billy.

Money is not an issue? Honestly, make a list of these parts that you want in a hurry. Call your NH dealer and give them the list, and a card number, and tell them to couriour them down to you. Keep them on the shelf until you need them. That's the only way to get something fast anymore. Fast just doesn't exist with NH parts these days. There's still some very good dealers out there, but if they haven't got it in stock, your going to wait.

Had you actually given the car quest guy ALL the info.. he may have been able to help you.. Carquest and NAPA have a application guide that has agricultural tractors in it. i get parts from NAPA all the time ( car quest has em too.. napa is closer to me )

Also.. a generic 4 pole isolated type starter relay would have worked for you.

If you have an O'reillys auto parts store in your area try them. They should have a book that will give you the right parts. If not tell them to get one since I know they have them I use o'reillys all the time for parts and they for the most part give me the right part the first time. Ya car quest and auto zone talk big but when it come to being real there not. Shoot just listen to there BULL on TV and you should see they don't have a clue
