My Ford 960 has a bad wheel shimmy when driving in road gear at half-throttle or more. It is a narrow front, and has power steering. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Thanks for the thoughts, gentlemen. Yes, Ford Farmer, I was looking for a 4200, and am still considering a tricycle of that model. So if you have the correct number, that would be great!

jack up the front and see where the paly is.. could be tierod / draglink ends ( steering cyl too ) or sector backlash in the box.. worn wheel hub / bearing.. out of round rim.. tire with a knot.. etc..

My Grandpa's Farmall super H did that. On the H, it was from slop in the steering gear. On a 900, I'd guess it was from play in the sector gear, drag link ends, or the steering gear on the front end. COmpletely unrelated.... several weeks ago, did I give you (715) 613-7700 as the phone number of someone with a 4200 for sale? If I did, that was the wrong number. That tractor is in the paper again, and I can get you the right number if you're still interested. Email is open...
