What cks can be done to see if the hyd sys is fubared, move the lever nothing happens, is it me? no Iam too darn smart for that! any help would be of great thanks.

Phil, Take the plug out of the head of the piston pump, idle the engine and see if there's flow. If not, prime it (very lightly pressurize the rear axle with air (rag wrapped around your blow gun)) and idle the engine with the plug removed. I fyou have flow and no lift, chances are pretty good that you have a stuck unload valve (located in the bottom of the hitch lift cylinder casting).

Before someone jumps on me and says that 4000's don't have piston pumps the fact is that 4000's with manual shift transmissions have gear pumps in the rear end, 4000's with SOS transmissions have engine mounted pistons pumps.
