I replaced the oil seals & the brake shoes as shoes were oil soaked & cracked & disintegrating.I beveled the leading and trailing edges of the shoes to stop the brakes from instantly locking up the wheel when gently touching the brake pedal. This with the tractor wheel jacked up.When I started driving the tractor, I discovered that the brakes were constantly & lightly dragging enough to cause a steering pull to the right and to heat up the drum. I backed the brakes off and still had light dragging. Also, the brakes would self energize and would lock the wheel up. When I backed up , brake would unlock. Go forward, wheel would lock up. Continue going forward and locking would stop but there would be dragging. This lock up was occasional but dragging was constant. Ford dealership shoes. They have no idea- never heard of this happening. Shoes seem ok as per a new set & the left side. Assembly seems correct.Spring was strong. No metal rubbing. Shoes show general even wear with no special high spots or oddness of wear. The outer edges of shoe lining are wearing in with a slight bevel.Tractor was operated 40 hours despite all of this. At first, I was oblivious and then I had to get work done.Drum was turned in past by previous owner-very light machining marks except for the inner inch where marks are more pronounced. I am at a loss here. This seems to be a continuation of the original problem of instant lock up with gentle brake pedal with tractor wheel jacked up. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
