Looking for performance reviews for the 6610 series II, 4WD.

How do they compare to other Fords, such as the 5610 or the 6600?

Do they have a good 4WD system?

Any information or advice would be helpful.
Thanks. Alan.

Texandian is right below, the series II has full power steering with a hyd cylinder at the front axel and a steering motor attached to the steering column while the older ones had a steering gearbox with a built in rotary torque amplifier. These used a drag link to the steering axel, although the FWA models I think all had a full power steering type system.

The front wheel assist axels have always been reliable on these tractors. The 6610 has the 268cu in engine as opposed to the 256cu in engine in the 5610 and in the older model tractors: 5600,6600,7700. The bore of the engines are acually the same but the stroke of the crank is longer in the 268. Yes the 268 will out lug an equal 256 equiped tractor in general. Theres an old addage "Theres no replacement for displacement".

The 6610 is a 72 pto HP tractor. there is no difference between the first and the series II except when it comes to cab equiped tractors. The series II with its "Q cab" is a huge improvement over the old roundtop cab body. You may notice the reinforced block on the later tractors but those came into prodution before the series II label was used. To my knowledge the series II tractors were all produced in the Basidon, England plant. They are good tractors we have two of them although we do not have FWA on either one.
