straightening connecting rods in reply to rich52, 04-10-2007 06:27:38
I think with a little investigation you might find a shop that will check and straighten con rods. I'm not sure of prices but it seems some of better shops could do that kind of thing. Might be a way to go. bjr

I am pretty sure I got mine from this site, it wasn't priced too bad either.

I see the Smith has 'good' used ones. for decent price.

Good used connecting rods for 134 and 172 engines. $30 each - free shipping Email John Smith smith8n@att.net with questions or to order parts. ----- ----- ----- ----

I see that this site also sells reconditioned ones for just a hair more.

I've ordered from Both Her and the Smith's site with great results for each. John Smith is a great guy, and the customer service on this site is also good. I don't see that yuo can go wrong either way.

PS.. If this is a diesel 860 then the ones from the smith won't work, and the ones from here are another number and price: Part No: 1201615) $79.17

Yeah, they are pretty common. Figure on about $100 for a replacement (may be as little as 1/2 that - depends on the rod)

You can also have new valve guides pressed in the head. They are about $3 each and are literally pressed into the head. Quick and easy.
