Using the tractor and loader Saturday, all worked fine, then Sunday morning I went to using loader, went to dump bucket of trash limbs and it would not retract so I lowered lift and couldnot raise loader arms, I got a lot of popping noise in control vavlve, checked fluid it was 3 gallons low, added fluid but no improvement. I removed filter and it was full of crud. What is the hydrauylic oil capacity for this 703HD loader. All help appreciated.

Sorry about posting twice, wish they'd allow people who post to edit or delete their own post,
anyway, I have 2 manuals for Ford Loaders, 1 for the 735 and one for the 740, but mine doesn't look like either one, but the Control Valve looks like the 740 and the filter is in the same place as the 735, which is 12.5" tall.
My loader looks like this one on Dick's 3500.

Let me know what you find out, like how much your filter costs, mine was $35.00 at O'Riellys.

In your subject line you state "730" and then in the message text you state "703HD". Which is it? On my 703 the filler port/breather is in the cross pipe just in front of the steering wheel. The manual says to fill it up to where you can see fluid in the filler port.

I read your reply to Charles Story. My 703 loader manual says "Remove the reservoir filler and breather cap (2), Figure 19, from the frame cross pipe and the oil level pipe cap (1), Figure 22. Fill the reservoir until the level is visible in the level pipe and reinstall the cap.". The level pipe cap is just forward of the filter at the end of the rubber hose where the metal pipe goes down into the loader frame. In my experience, it is best ot put a drain pan under the loader frame at the level pipe cap since it will over flow as you fill.

I"m in the middle of filter change/hydraulic fluid flush/fill with my loader that is either a 730 or 740 but it"s on a 3500 Ind tractor.

My pump was making a screaming noise, so I took out the filter and the paper wrapper had dissolved into the circuit, so I"m in the middle of trying to flush out the whole system, cylinders, pump, valve and whatever else I can get a wrench on.

My book says a 730 loader holds 12.5 gallons or 13.5 inches from the top of the left tower. Let me know if you find a filter, what the part number is.
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
NH parts man just wanted to know if mine had a 9" or 12.5" filter, mine has the 9" filter. I will post part number when I pick it up in a couple of days.
