Hi All,

Hopefully someone can offer some advise about the wiring for my cut-out on my generator.

Basically I have the original generator for my carrier, along with a cutout mounted on it as per the original.

There are two wires that come from the generator...one is the field wire and one is the armature wire.

I attach the armature wire to the G location on the cutout.
The field wire I put to ground.

The two wires from the carrier...the red wire in my photo connects to the Ammeter , the blue wire goes to the switch board on the dash, It controlls the lights etc..

My confusion is...which wire goes where on the cutout/generator?

I can't seem to get the battery charging! Below is a photo of my set up...

Looks like you have the wires reversed. The cover may be on the cutout backward.Armature wire goes on back , battery wire goes on front of generator.

"A" on generator to "G" on cutout.

"B" on cutout to ammeter,

"F" on generator = "Field". When grounded, generator is "full-fielded" and will charge at maximum rate. For reduced charging rate, a resistor is switched into the circuit between "F" and ground, typically by a 3-position light switch. Is this a "third brush" generator?
