Hey soundguy & Bill the ends on my 5000 are flexible, not fixed. The Ford dealer has told me that there the balls were pressed into the flexible ends, and not avaiable. However I can purchase NEW flex ends for 145.00,at which point I clutched my chest and gaspped for breath. Any ideas on where I might find the balls thaat woul fit these links???

I have a 1967 5000 with the flexible ends and it definitely has removable balls. I have both Cat 1 and Cat 2 balls for it. The balls are available at TSC or most tractor parts websites but I don't seem to find them on this site. My spring clips that retain the ball are still good so I didn't have to try to find them.

If your tractor has the telescopic link ends, where you lift the latch in the side of the arm and pull the end out, then it should have the removable balls. They are as bill described. Get new balls and springs if necessary. Shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks for the lot. Failing that, change the ends if the sockets are worn...

whoa... you know that the balls can be had for about $3 to 4 bucks a piece... some lower arms had the interchangeable ball... and a little spring clip that held them in... and yes.. the little clip usually breaks off and the balls fall out or they are kept in the tool box... so any decent tractor parts can get them... if you wish..weld a small tab over the front on the balls to keep them from falling out...

I don't know this for sure.. but I bet a 5600 or 7000 would.

Do you have the flex link ends or fixed ends?
