I have a 950 gas tractor, and was drag-harrowing with it the other day....when I shut it off at lunchtime, the gas cap was hissing like an overheated radiator. This happened again when I shut it down after finishing the field. Does anyone know if Ford made a replacement gas cap for these tractors, that would tend to prevent pressure build-up as this? Thanks.

Your local New Holland dealer still offers the free safety vented and rollover spill protection gas cap excange program that Ford came out with in 1986, just take your old cap(when engine is cooled off) and the hand stamped model and serial# on the left front top corner of the transmission housing below the air cleaner cup to you dealer and tell them to refer to service bulletin# 1993/10-T2 and the original cap has a defect in workmanship and the new cap meets current venting and spill requirements and he can get reimbursed.

I agree with sound. The tanks have a vent and some times they get clogged and that can be bad news. Also there should be a heat sheild under the tank does yours have that heat sheild in place that can also cause you that type of problem

Should have a vented cap or vented fuel tank.. one or the other.
