I'm wondering if anyone on here has bought wheels from A&I. I installed a tire for an old guy today who had to replace the wheel. He got a 12x28 through A&I. The first problem with the wheel was the loop location. They were offset about 1 inch closer to the bead than the original wheel. These things are somewhat expected with aftermarket stuff.... but... I went to change the dish around to get the right wheel spacing and couldn't get the dish back in place... easily. It turned out that the wheel is NOT concentric, and the loops were not spaced properly. I ended up installing the first few bolts and getting the dish to sit in it's cradle on those bolts, and then taking 2 tire bars and PRYING the wheel outwards to get the dish to seat, and drawing the thing down with the air gun, one at a time. Never in all my life have I seen anything like it. Must be the chinaman that rolled that one was drunk, or just couldn't roll a wheel properly.... If it was mine it would have gone back.... but anyway.... That's how I spent my afternoon.

Got me wondering. I put new rims, tubes, tires, and centers on my 861 last fall. This spring I was going to move my tires "in" 1 step. Luckily I did one side first and tried to put it on the hub. The tire rubbed the fender and the lug nuts weren't even on. In my 601/801 series Ford owners manual, on page 29 it shows wheel spacing. My wheels are currently set at 60". I wanted to move them to the 56" setting, this is where they rubbed. This also tells me that the fenders would have to be removed to get the 52" setting, not that I would ever put them there. This is why I would agree with you that the loops are placed too close to the bead. The loops and holes in the centers did line up ok.

Wheels on narrow setting in reply to Lumpy, 05-01-2007 15:10:45
I just went thru this with a old 4000D/871. It's the LCG model with 24" tires. I had to make fender spacer offsets to be be able to get the narrow setting. Now when I raise the 3 pt all the way up the anti sway bars on the lift arms rub the fenders. But at least the fenders are on the machine. The option was to leave them off. bjr
