Would this Fit my 172D 4cyl. early 4000D? The local rebuilders want $500-$800 and one guy wanted $300 deposit, so's I don't just dump and run I guess. Anyways I gotta do something to make this tractor idle. It dies when I throttle down. bjr

Since you have the model # off your pump I think the easiest thing to do would be to e-mail the seller your model # and ask if he has a match. He may have access to other pumps not listed.

$250 is a unheard of price for injection pumps. I paid close to $700 with tax to have mine rebuilt.

Have you tried setting the low speed idle so the tractor will idle at a higher rpm.The idle adjustment screw is on the cover. It points down at an angle. There is a jam nut and the screw will be turned with an allen wrench. You turn it in to increase and out to decrease. The manual shows to the pump to be adjusted to 600 rpm. I have mine set at 800. Could be the tach that I have could be wrong. I had the same problem. I hauled the complete tractor to the injection shop and the technicion fixed it with out removing from the tractor. Mine also has the electric shutoff. I do not think that the pumps on e-bay will work.

there's a 801 diesel with what the owner says is a new injector pump for sale on eBay he's parting out the whole thing. Might be worth a try. JR

I don't know if it will work or not. It looks like the throttle is on the wrong side.... maybe it can be swapped around?

That model number doesn't sound correct and the drive doesn't look correct. I'm away from home or I'd tell you the correct model. You should be able to find the model number marked on your pump.
Are you aware that these pumps don't have a fuel cutoff lever? You shut it down by retarding the throttle lever all the way to the stop. Are you pulling the throttle all the way back and killing it or are you saying that it will not run below a certain RPM?

It has a electric solenoid shut down. When I throttle down fast it kills the engine and when I throttle down real slow I can keep it runnin'. The one on ebay looks like it has throttle linkage on both sides. And yes, that's what I need to know if there different drive types and if so can they be swap out easily? Mine has a off set flat tab, that has be put in one way. Do I need to worry about fuel outlet connections? The number one on the tractor now is DBGVCC 429-27AC. bjr

The 172D on a 801 or early 4000 shuts off from the throttle lever. It should not have a shutdown solenoid. There is a detent in the throttle linkage.

The ebay pump won't work. The "C" in the model number indicates Clockwise rotation. The "CC" in your model number indicates CounterClockwise rotation.

I think you're correct on the model no. CC versus C, So that pump probably won't work. I called an out of town pump repair shop for prices and his were even higher, but seemed to be a nice enough guy. He advise me to go to local Stanadyne shop and get some of the Stanadyne fuel treatment. I did and the fellow at the counter gave a trial size enough for two treatments. Well I not a saleman for the stuff, all I can say is it work very well in the old 4000D. The shut down when throttling down issue went away and the smoking at idle went away. I wouldn't have believed it if I had done it myself. That Stanadyne fuel treat is worth try. It made me a believer. bjr
